Team Novak is pleased to introduce the new Kinetic Spec Brushless ESC. This new ESC is specifically designed for spec class racing, while still including most of the features of the flagship Kinetic 2S! Racers looking for an ESC that includes a ROAR Sportsman class profile with the speed and power of an ultimate racing controller will find the perfect balance in the Kinetic Spec. For those seeking a more affordable alternative to costly high-end ESCs, the Novak Kinetic Spec will provide the best of both worlds, reliable speed and economy.

The Kinetic Spec includes Novak's smaller Trans-Cap Module - Kinetic 1S #5687.

With Spec racing gaining in popularity, Novak is proud to provide racers with such a feature packed ESC. On top of including most of the features of the original Kinetic, this new speed controller features a low profile heat sink and Novak's smaller Power Trans-Cap Module (#5687), all at an affordable price! It can be paired with any sensored BL 540 motor over 8.5T and any sensored BL 550 motor over 5.5T. It is also compatible with 2S or 1S applications (1S may require an external module such as Novak's Smart Boost 1-Cell Li-Po Step-Up Module #5474).

Novak's Kinetic Speed Controls contain the latest R/C technology on the market, and the Kinetic Spec is no exception. The Kinetic Spec uses the same power section as the Kinetic 2S. The Kinetic Spec also has a zero timing mode and boasts the sophisticated Dynamic Timing Advance. This electronic motor-timing feature has eight on-board timing settings—with further adjustability via the NovaLink™ —and increases the motor RPM dynamically throughout the throttle band. The increased RPM, in turn, results in higher speeds and improved speed control performance. It also features complete on-board programmability and built-in PC interface software.

The Kinetic Spec is also available in 3 systems with Novak's next-generation Ballistic Spec motors.

Two additional features that go hand-in-hand are the Brake and Throttle Curves. Simply stated, these curves allow drivers to apply their brakes and throttle more gradually or aggressively. But the most impressive element to these parameters is their adjustability. Using Novak’s PC interface, users can customize preset brake and throttle curves graphically by simply dragging points on the graph. Drivers can either save these customized curves or create their own to test drive on a track later.

Another feature that can be fine tuned via Novak’s PC interface is the adjustable Voltage Cut-Off parameter. This feature allows drivers to select a cut-off voltage value among a predetermined range of values for 2S Li-Po and Li-Fe battery packs. This voltage cut-off flexibility can improve a vehicle’s performance, while still protecting a driver’s battery investment.

In addition to Novak’s easy-to-use One-Touch™ on-board programming interface, the Kinetic Spec ESC can be fine tuned via Novak’s fully adjustable PC interface, the NovaLink™ (#5440). The optional NovaLink provides users with expanded programming adjustability. The NovaLink Programming Interface comprises a unique module that easily plugs into the Kinetic’s input harness and an included USB cord. Using the integrated software disk, racers can fine tune the Kinetic’s multiple parameters by inputting the desired values or using the user-friendly graphic controls. Additionally, each personalized set of parameters can be stored onto a PC to recall and use again later. These custom-made parameter sets can, in addition, be shared with other drivers to collaborate and find the best set up per competition and race condition. The NovaLink will also never be outdated due to the easy-to-download software updates available to NovaLink users on Novak’s Web site.

The Kinetic Spec can be purchased separately, or as a system. Kinetic Spec / Ballistic 540 Systems are available in three motor turns: 10.5T (#3160), 13.5T (#3161) and 17.5T (#3162). Novak's Ballistic Spec Brushless Motors (#3610 - #3617) are completely rebuildable, right down to the hardware. In fact, only one motor is necessary to compete in all spec class races. Simply pick your class of choice, and install the necessary color-coded, hand-wound stator. Each stator includes a factory-installed insert that easily identifies the number of motor winds. To complete the racing package, this next-generation spec motor series contains an easy-to-adjust timing assembly that alters the RPM range and retains previous user settings, allowing for strategic and smart spec racing. Additionally, these sleek motors are ROAR/IFMAR approved, boast a removable shielded sensor harness, and contain a 12.3mm nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor for maximum motor acceleration, braking power and performance in high-temperature conditions.

The Kinetic Spec is compatible with any 540-sized sensored BL motor over 8.5T or 550-sized sensored brushless motor over 5.5T and is optimized for Novak’s Ballistic Spec Brushless Motors (#3610-#3621) and Ballistic 550 Brushless Motors (#3505-#3506). These remarkable Novak motors contain an easy-to-adjust timing assembly, sport interchangeable wound stator construction and include a nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor. And like all Novak racing motors, these brushless motors are blisteringly fast. The Kinetic is also available as a system with the Ballistic Spec Motors (#3610-#3617).
