SS4300 Racing Stock Brushless Motor
The
SS4300
Racing Stock Brushless Motor
is one of three brushless motors from Novak. Designed
for use with either the Super Sport ESC (#3205) or
the Super
Sport Plus Brushless/Brush ESC (#1705),
the SS4300 provides all of the advantages of the SS5800 Brushless Motor,
but provides
lower speeds for increased vehicle control
for newer drivers, and longer
run-times
for those trying to get some valuable "practice" time on the
track. With a Kv
rating of 4,300 RPM/Volt,
a Kt
rating of 0.45 in-oz/amp,
and a
power output of 175 watts,
the SS4300 Brushless Motor provides performance similar
to a 27-turn racing stock brushed motor.
All
Novak brushless motors are virtually maintenance-free
(no brushes, brush springs, or commutator to true or wear out), include
sensor
technology
for excellent
starting torque
and low-speed
driveability,
and have low
cogging for
smooth acceleration and
smooth coasting.
The SS4300 features direct-solder
wiring tabs
for easy wire replacement, and
locked rotor and thermal protection
to allow pack after pack to be run without fear of damaging the motor,
battery, or speed control. The SS4300 Brushless Motor (#3401) is to be used with the Super Sport ESC or the Super Sport Plus Brushless/Brush ESC (#1705). The SS4300 Brushless Motor is also available for purchase with the Super Sport ESC (#3205) as the Super Sport SS4300 Racing Stock Brushless Motor System (#3006).
The Super Sport speed control has all the features expected from a Novak-designed ESC, and more. Six user-selectable throttle programs ensure that drivers of all skill levels will find a setting suitable for just about any application. The Super Sport ESC includes some of Novaks newest features such as a Transmitter Check Mode, which checks whether the transmitter has enough throw in the forward and brake directions; Locked Rotor Detection Circuitry, which prevents motor, battery, and ESC damage; and Variable Throttle Step Technology; which gives the ESC its incredibly smooth performance. Other standard features included are: One-Touch Set-Up, Radio Priority Circuitry, Thermal Protection, and Polar Drive Technology.

Below
are definitions of terms which brushless motors are rated, and which apply
to the SS4300.
| Kv
|
This
number is the motor voltage constant expressed in RPM/Volt. This indicates
how fast the motor will turn for a given voltage (given there is no
internal resistance). As an example, the SS4300's
Kv rating is 4,300 RPM/Volt. Therefore, if a 6.0-volt battery
pack is used, the SS4300's
RPM would be 25,800 (6.0 x 4,300). |
| Kt
|
This
number is the motor torque constant expressed in inch-ounce of torque
per amp of current. This number is the amount of torque a motor would
produce per amp of current draw. As an example, the SS4300's
Kt rating is 0.45 in-oz/amp. Therefore, if the motor is drawing
5 amps, the SS4300
would
produce 2.25 in-oz of torque (5 x 0.45). |
| Cogging
|
This
term describes the non-uniform angular velocity of the rotation of
the motor rotor. Rather than a smooth motion, the rotation occurs
in jerks or increments. The lower the cogging, the smoother the rotation,
which the driver will experience as smooth driving. The Super Sport's
smooth acceleration and coasting is attributed to it being low-cogging.
