Novak has bred a micro brushless system: the Mongoose Micro Brushless System. This system includes the Novak Mongoose Brushless/Brush ESC factory-wired to one of three Novak Three-80 Micro Pro Brushless Motors. The Three-80 Micro Pro is the first sensor-based brushless motor that is specifically designed for 1/18 and 1/16-scale cars. Because it is sensored and lightweight, it gives these micro scale cars the ability to maneuver at high speeds in extremely tight spaces, all with unsurpassed low speed and braking control. The Mongoose’s Brushless/Brush ESC and sensored brushless motor are perfectly matched to maximize performance and handle with the agility and speed of a mongoose.

Novak's Mod 0.5 and0.6 Aluminum PinionGear Sets include three gears that fit seamlessly with Novak's Three-80 Micro Pro Brushless Motor, which has a 1/8" output shaft.

Like the popular Novak Velociti brushless motors, the Three-80 Micro Pro motors feature a sensor commutation design. Knowledge of rotor position is key to smooth performance and is just as important in micro vehicles as in larger-scale vehicles. When the speed control always knows the rotor position, there is no hesitation before acceleration under load. The motor will provide excellent low-speed driveability, excellent starting torque, smooth braking and controlled bursts of power. Other motor features include a high-strength, Sintered Neodymium rotor for maximum motor acceleration and an oversized front bearing for increased load handling and bearing life, and a rugged 1/8" shaft diameter. Like all Novak brushless motors, the Three-80 Micro motors are rebuildable.

The Mongoose Micro Brushless/Brush ESC is a versatile, fully featured speed control specifically developed for micro applications. In addition to its compatibility with both brushless and brush motors, it instinctively knows via its Auto-Detect Brushed Mode when a brush motor is connected. Additional features of the Mongoose Micro ESC are its on-board programmability, built-in 2S & 3S Li-Po Cut-off Circuitry, heavy duty 6.0V/2A BEC and a water-resistant case.

Multiple throttle profiles are also included for different driving styles, including a racing brushless profile for top-level forward performance and two profiles with reverse.

  • Profile #1 is the default setting that allows forward, brake and reverse functions.
  • Profile #2 contains the Reverse Disable feature that turns it into a forward/brake ESC.
  • Profile #3 is for applications that require limited reverse. This mode allows forward, as well as 25% reverse and brakes.
  • Profile #4 is the brushed mode that allows the ESC to be attached to a brushed motor and operate with forward, brake and reverse.

  • Mongoose Micro Brushless System 13.5T: 13.5 turns and 6,000 Kv recommended for users looking for power with the longest possible runtimes. (System #3052)
Though the Mongoose Brushless System packs more power into its motor, the systems still easily fit into many micro vehicles.
