What They Said
The reviews are out on the GTB/Velociti Brushless System. Here are some excerpts from various magazine reviews:
Xtreme R/C Cars Magazine:
April 2006 issue

"I had many people come up to me and ask what motor I was running, and when I would tell them brushless, almost all of the responses were the same 'Many, that thing is fast!' Not only did the car haul around the track, but it had plenty of runtime...In the end, the GTB system had me thinking to myself, 'Why have I been wasting my time on maintenance-heavy brushed motors?"

R/C Car Magazine:
March 2006 issue

"The GTB is the brushless system modified racers have been waiting for from Novak, and it doesn't disappoint."

R/C Car Action Magazine:
February 2006 issue

"After 20 minutes of running, the battery was spent. I had to look at my watch twice because it seemed impossible to have such a long run time with such extraordinary performance."

R/C Driver Magazine:
February 2006 issue

"On a straightaway this thing is a mini rocket. Come out of a turn at mid throttle and a full squeeze propels you to the next bend before you can say 'brushless rocks!...Yes sir! Brushless is here to stay."

Velociti/GTB Racing Brushless Systems

The GTB/Velociti brushless motor systems from Novak are fast, powerful and designed to race. In fact, they include all of the extra performance-enhancing components required for world-class racing, making them ready-to-race straight out of the box (nothing extra to buy or install). Each system includes Novak's premier GTB Programmable Racing Brushless/Brush Speed Control factory-wired to one of five Novak Velociti motors.

  • The GTB/Velociti 3.5R System (#3000) is ideal for customers wanting the fastest brushless motor for top-level competition touring car applications.
  • The GTB/Velociti 4.5R System (#3001) is ideal for competition touring cars.
  • The GTB/Velociti 5.5R System (#3002) is ideal for touring Car and high-traction off-road applications.
  • The GTB/Velociti 6.5R System (#3003) is ideal for off-road and low-traction applications and faster than Velociti 7.5R.
  • The GTB/Velociti 7.5R System (#3007) is ideal for off-road and low-traction applications.

Because the Velociti motor was specifically developed for the GTB, and the entire system is factory-tested, racers can be assured that the GTB System will provide optimum performance. If you're looking for a competitive, out-of-the-box, ready-to-race brushless system, the GTB Brushless System is the way to go.

Spread Spectrum
GTB ESC (#1710) is compatible with all standard 27/40/75 AM/FM and 2.4Ghz radio systems.
NOVAK’S GTB RACING ESC
The speed control used for the systems is the GTB Programmable Racing Brushless/Brush ESC (#1710), which is packed full of features. This versatile ESC can be used with either brushless or brushed motors, has no brushed motor limit, and is compatible with all Novak 540-size sensored brushless motors.

The GTB is also programmable with a user-friendly interface, including 4 different color status LEDs that make programming extremely easy. The brushless mode has 4 adjustable parameters, including Minimum Brake, Drag Brake, Deadband, and Minimum Drive. The brushed mode is fully programmable with all of the adjustments of the brushless mode, plus adjustable Drive Frequency.

NOVAK'S VELOCITI MOTORS
Novak's Velociti-Series Racing Brushless Motors are specifically designed for R/C vehicles, and specifically designed for racing. In fact, each Velociti brushless motor is capable of reaching speeds fast enough to satisfy the needs of serious racers, as well as those who just want to go fast.

Each Velociti brushless motor and GTB/Velociti brushless system has been equipped with Novak's ROAR-approved Nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor. The high-performance rotor is ideal for use with any and all applications. The benefits include:

  • Significantly increased magnetic strength for improved throttle feel
    Improved, stronger motor braking power
  • Improved performance in higher temperature conditions
  • Improved motor acceleration and power
  • Higher efficiency
  • Lower current draw
  • Nickel-plated rotor for a long lasting, smooth, clean finish
  • ROAR approved

In addition, all Velociti brushless motors feature a set of ribbed aluminum end bells. The lightweight aluminum end bells not only reduce the overall weight of the motor, but the ribbed design also acts as a heat sink by efficiently removing excessive heat from the motor.

Other great features found in the Velociti motors include sensor-based technology for excellent starting torque and low-speed driveability; an oversized front bearing for increased load handling and longer bearing life; longer run-times than brushed motors, and ROAR-approved specifications. Additional features include solder tabs, thermal overload protection and a virtually maintenance-free design.

THE SENSORED ADVANTAGE
Of its many features, its
sensor-based design allows for most of the Velociti's important benefits, including the following:

  • No Cogging--Thanks to constantly knowing the rotor position, the motor provides instantaneous throttle response & smooth transitions from neutral to drive. The rotor position knowledge is attained due to the ESC & motor being continuously synchronized via the motor harness.

  • Smooth & Controlled Low Speed Driveability--Always knowing the rotor angle is key to smooth acceleration without delivering abrupt and uncontrolled bursts of power.

  • Strong/Consistent Brakes & Starting Torque--Rotor position knowledge results in consistent starts & stops, without hesitation or inconsistent lag times before acceleration or braking--this translates to consistant lap times.

  • Thermal Protection--Position & temperature sensors inside motor provide unparalleled thermal protection, letting you to run pack after pack without worrying about overheating the motor, ESC, or magnets.

Each motor is factory hand-wound and is put through rigorous testing, including a final dyno test to ensure that each Velociti motor meets Novak’s rigid specifications.
