Snowbirds 2011 was another fantastic event hosted by the Thunder RC Crew. Mike Boylan has been hosting this race for many years and Novak was glad to be one of the event's sponsors. We spent a week in sunny Florida with a handful of our Team Drivers working with the latest products and turning fast lap times. There were a few days of practice, followed by qualifications and the finals on Sunday. As always, the racers put on a great show. Many epic door to door, bumper to bumper, and fender to fender battles were had with only a select few coming out on top of the field. Novak had a few drivers make an appearance in the A Finals; Jeff "Humpty" Helms qualified in the A Final of 13.5 COT class. Dustin Layne qualified 9th on the grid for Stock Touring 17.5 class, and with some great luck and a cool collected run, secured a 2nd place finish. Way to Go Dustin! A big thanks goes out to Team Gordinho! Fernando and Diego were in great spirits all week while Charlie tested settings on their ESCs, and by Sunday found some good power! Another thank you to Gary Hamilton and the So Cal Oval guys. Gary made the 10.5 Open B Final and finished 3rd turning awesome laptimes and finishing strong. Many of the oval racers commented how much "rip" the Novak equipped car had all weekend. Lots of NovaLinks got installed for more testing when the racers get home!
