17th Annual Presidential Day Race

February 20, 2011
Leisure Hours Raceway - Joilet, IL

Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet IL held the 17th Annual Presidential Day Race on February 20th, 2011. There were 176 entries for a full day of action packed racing!

Team Novak drivers Mike Nelson and Ray Kindstrom were in attendance, and both had great weekends. The two biggest classes were stock and mod short course. After three rounds of qualifying, Ray was able to secure a third place starting position in the stock short course A-Main. When the tone went off Ray wasted no time getting up to second in the first turn and getting the lead before the first lap was completed. As the rest of the field battled Ray kept his line tight and with every lap put more distance between himself and second place. Using his Kinetic with Dynamic Timing Advance Ray had plenty of smooth power to pull away for the victory.

In Mod Short Course Mike Nelson stayed in the top two positions in each round of qualifying, securing second overall. When the tone went off Mike Nelson swapped the lead several times in the first couple of minutes with another driver. Both drivers, keeping it clean, had a great short course battle using just enough bumper or door to get the position away from each other without wrecking. After about two minutes Mike was able to put a little distance and bring home the victory. Mike used Kinetic and 8.5 Ballistic motor, he had awesome power all day.

Congrats Team Novak Drivers!
