Novak Wins Big at the Cactus Classic in Scottsdale, AZ

March 18-20, 2011 marked the 25th running of one of the most popular and well-known electric off-road events in the United States—the Cactus Classic at Scottsdale R/C Speedway in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. Novak's founder Bob Novak, and Charlie Suangka went to the event this year to support the local Orange Powered Racers, and turn a few laps while they were at it!

This year's event had the largest turn out ever, with close to 450 entries. The event was made up of two days of practice, two days of qualifying, and the finals on Sunday. Novak would like to extend a huge "Thank You" to all the racers that used Novak Electronics equipment in their vehicles. It was great to see so many Novak powered vehicles in the pits and on the track. Go Team Orange!

2WD Short Course Truck - 13.5 Class

Making the trip to the Cactus all the way from the United Kingdom, CML Team Driver Tony Truman was able to secure a spot in the 13.5 2WD Short Course Truck A Main Final, alongside his fellow Novak powered racers, Jeff Helms, Kyle Ash and Brandon Fox. Thanks for making Novak your power plant of choice!

The 10 minute A Main event kicked off under the scorching desert sun on Sunday. After more than nine minutes of hard-fought fender rubbing racing, Tony Truman was able to make a last lap pass to take home the top spot using his Novak Kinetic / Ballistic 540 13.5T (#3147) powered Associated SC10. Tony drove an absolutely fabulous race to push from 6th position on the grid to lead only the final lap of the race. Splendid driving, Mr. Truman! Hats Off!

4X4 Short Course Truck Class

Team Losi's recent success with the Novak Havoc Pro SC and Ballistic 550 motor (#3115) continued at this year's Cactus Classic. Mike Truhe and Casey Peck used the same Novak Combo to secure A Main positions in the 4x4 Short Course Truck division. Dual 5-minute finals determined the overall winner. Mike Truhe pushed his Losi Ten SCTE to the top of the podium and secured another huge win for Novak Electronics. Novak would like to thank Mike Truhe, Casey Peck and Kevin Gahan for all their hard work.

This year's Cactus Classic was another exciting event, and we can't say enough great things about the race and the facility. Novak would like to say thank you to the SRS staff for hosting this race year after year, and to Jeff "Humpty" Helms for all of his extra efforts and great help. And to all the Novak Powered Racers, Thank You!
